about

Recorded at home and in secret locations around Atlanta, spring 2017.

First there was the way and the way was a Tascam DR-100. Most of these sounds were captured with that little black rectangle and some microphone or other. Nick and Gus recorded themselves expertly hitting things and then most of the rest was up to the owner and proprietor of meaning of everything. We wanted quite a lot of voices on one song so Sirkka lent us her coffee shop and a couple dozen people showed up to sing and that was a lot of fun. Loud noises were made in the middle of the night and generally when we were supposed to be doing other things. This album was mixed using computers and ears. Thanks to Hilary for being on the cover. And thanks to Brother Hawk and Pony League for lending us their musicians. And hey, thanks for listening. Turn it all the way up while you're at it.

Track Name: Like Math
faults can grow until they spiderweb away
Track Name: Objective Look at a Family Album
my sister, three months early
a pink cap on her head
a bracelet on her ankle
in the palm of my dad's hand
Track Name: Highland and Below
my strength's not for me anymore
Track Name: Prior Conviction
the song is gone but we can't stop singing along
it's flawed and cruel but it might as well be true
